#1. The Wizard Trials – PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

OMG! This is the best escape room in Atlanta, GA. This room is perfect the way it is. The story, the puzzles, the decoration, the additional elements all contribute to the amazing experience. We’ve tried at least 200+ escape rooms, but we’d never had such a complex experience. The Wizard Trials room is perfect for small groups (2-3 people), but it’s best with a team of 5-6 players. It’s a great experience if you’re an expert escape room player, but also if this is your first ever room.

I’d like to emphasize that 1) you really need to use the magic wand!!! 2) they take advantage of state-of-the-art technology for the puzzles, which allows you to immerse yourself in the magical world even more 3) the way clues are used all through the room is inventive and refined. I can recommend this room to any beginner and experienced escape room fan, but it’s a must-try if you love magical escape rooms or you’re looking for a family friendly escape room.

  • Opened: 2021
  • Price: $32 and $37 per person, depending on public or private game.
  • Players: 2-8
  • Booking: PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

#2. Medieval Madness – PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

This one is my personal favorite, but the ranking is based on the votes of the whole team, so it dropped down to second place. Another PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta room. There’s no way around it, the guys know their stuff. Design, atmosphere, sounds, all 10 out of 10. Besides, I came across such a unique puzzle in this escape room that still to this day, it makes me wonder how someone would ever come up with it! (Spoiler alert: look at the picture) A proper medieval escape room.

The reason for it not being in first place is that it’s not necessarily recommended for beginners (though if you like some challenge, don’t hesitate to try it). It’s a real treat for escape room fans. Recommended for groups of at least 3. If you’ve already tried their The Wizard Trials or Ther Red Wire rooms, you’ll surely triumph in this one, too. And if you want to try a scary escape room, definitely don’t miss out on this one. Nobody will jump on you or scare you to death, but the atmosphere is reminiscent of a good Hitchcock movie.

  • Opened: 2021
  • Price: $32 and $37 per person, depending on public or private game.
  • Players: 2-8
  • Booking: PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

#3. The Red Wire – PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

To be honest, I wouldn’t have thought that one company could occupy three spots in our Best Escape Room Atlanta 2022 list. But that’s how it is, because in third place is The Red Wire escape room. This is a smaller room, but all the more creative. Its story is very popular: you can try what it feels like to have 60 minutes to save the world. For secret agent fans, it’d be criminal to miss this room.

This is PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta’s easiest room, but the puzzles are all the more refined and inventive for it. There are several passageways, which I don’t want to spoil, and it has another great advantage: it’s suitable for only two people, too. It’s the perfect escape room for a date night. If you’re going on a date, don’t forget to book a private escape room so you don’t have to share the PanIQ experience with strangers. My personal favorite puzzle was the phone booth.

  • Opened: 2021
  • Price: $32 and $37 per person, depending on public or private game.
  • Players: 2-5
  • Booking: PanIQ Escape Room Atlanta

#4. The Kidnapping – Breakout Games

This is one of the oldest rooms of Breakout Games Atlanta. The theme is good and creative. The game itself starts in an interesting way which I don’t want to spoil. The gist is that you have to get out of the room before your captor comes back. It’s one of the bigger escape rooms. A total of 7 people can play at the same time. All of their rooms are private, so they are slightly more expensive than others. I’d say it’s better for adults, but teenagers can try it, too.

  • Price: $24.99-44.99 per person, depending on your group size
  • Players: 2-8
  • Booking: breakoutgame.com/atlanta

#5. Clown – Big Escape Rooms#clown

The story in a nutshell. Here’s the bad news: You and your friends have been trapped in an abandoned circus by Boris, a crazed serial killer clown. The good news is that Boris is in a playful mood and he’s giving you a chance to escape. It’s inventive and very creative, but at the same time, not the same as the previous room.

It’s somewhere in the medium difficulty realm. The escape rate is about 35%. It’s not recommended for younger players, because it’s a scary room. Don’t worry, there isn’t any living being in the escape room other than the players. The room itself is one of the bigger escape rooms. A maximum of 12 people can play. Unfortunately, it’s only available privately if you pay the full 12-people price.

  • Price: $33 per person
  • Players: 2-12
  • Booking: bigescaperooms.com

#6. The Shed – Mastermind Escape Games

This is one of their newest rooms. You have to escape a shed before the neighbor gets back. It’s a simple story, with very inventive puzzles. The atmosphere is very interesting all throughout the game. It isn’t the best room for people with disabilities, because you have to get through tight spaces at times.

The escape rate of this room is 30%, so it classifies as medium difficulty. The game area is relatively large (if we don’t count the tight passages), and it can accommodate up to 10 players. Currently, all of their rooms are private.

  • Price: $29.99 per person
  • Players: 2-10
  • Booking: mastermindescapegames.com

#7. Sorcerer’s Secret – Mastermind Escape Game

Another magic-themed room. This one was also designed inventively and creatively. I felt some difference in the atmosphere and the originality of the puzzles compared to The Wizard Trials from PanIQ Escape Room. This is also better than most rooms, but not as good as the PanIQ guys’ room.

You visit your old uncle’s store when it turns out that he’s actually missing. Your task is to find him and avoid the same fate yourself. As usual, you have 60 minutes to escape. 50% of the players escape this room. We also successfully escaped and felt that this was an easier room. To me, some of the puzzles felt just too simple…Of course, it still made it to number seven on our list, so it’s definitely not a bad room.

  • Price: $29.99 per person
  • Players: 2-10
  • Booking: mastermindescapegames.com

#8. The Grand Zeppelin – Time to Escape

This is the only escape room on our list where there is another person (an actor) in the room. I’m not particularly a fan of these types of rooms, but I think it’s a clever innovation. The design of the room is refined, well-crafted. It “takes you back” to 1914’s Europe. The room is huge, a total of 15 people can play at the same time. Their website says it’s a medium difficulty room. And we also think so. There were easier and more difficult puzzles, but all in all, they were comprehensible and solvable.

You need at least 3 people playing to make the room enjoyable; otherwise, it ends up as a high difficulty room instead of a medium. All rooms are public, if you want to rent the whole room, you have to indicate it separately on the website when booking. That’s the only way to play in a private room.

  • Price: $31 Mon-Thu, $33 Fri/Sun, $35 Sat
  • Players: 3-15
  • Booking: itstimetoescape.com/downtown-atlanta/

#9. Playground – The Escape Game Atlanta

If you want to relive what it was like to be in elementary school, this escape room is for you. The goal is to complete all the tasks before the 60 minutes are up, otherwise summer camp is done for. A fun story for adults and younger players alike. The puzzles are a bit outdated. There are more modern technological solutions out there nowadays. That said, it can be a great 60-minute activity if you’re around The Battery. I must admit the location is 10 out of 10.

We felt the difficulty of the room was low-medium. It is also a relatively large room, divided into several smaller parts, of course. Unfortunately, all of the rooms are public. You have to pay for the entire room here as well if you want a private game. But at least you get 50% off the empty player spots if you want to play in private.

  • Price: $37.99 per person
  • Players: 2-12
  • Booking: https://theescapegame.com/atlanta/

#10. Prison Break – The Escape Game Atlanta

It’s the most difficult room from this company, and I have to admit, this escape room gave plenty to think about to even our experienced team. At times we felt it was too difficult, and that affected the game experience, too. The atmosphere is oppressive, but as a prison, it should be. There were six of us in the room and the space was perhaps a little too tight for us.

I recommend you try it for the experience because you won’t be disappointed. Provided it’s not the first escape room you’ve tried!

  • Price: $37.99 per person
  • Players: 2-8
  • Booking: theescapegame.com/atlanta/

Is there a scary escape room in Atlanta?

There are plenty of good scary escape rooms in Atlanta. You can try first the Medieval Madness escape room from PanIQ Room Atlanta. It is scary but not too scary, so you will have an amazing escape room experience. You can also try the Clown or The Kidnapping escape rooms.
